‘Fit and Proper’ Test

Businesses that are supervised by HMRC for anti-money laundering are subject to either a ‘fit and proper’ test or to approval requirements under the regulations. Before a business can register, and remain registered, with HMRC, the ‘responsible person’ must pass the relevant test.

Guidance on the requirements of the ‘fit and proper’ test and how HMRC undertake the test is available on the Gov.uk website.
